This episode is a part of our Blog-vember 2019 trifecta of three posts a day—a video, a podcast, and a blog post. This year the focus is tips for the D.I.Y. Rock Star. We developed these methods through our own decades worth of experiences.
Take into account these tips for staying inspired:
The BIG Take-Aways:
Wow! This is a rather big topic, but we will do our best to keep it short.
New gear sometimes inspires us, but we also like to look to cultural trends—like Asian-inspired bridal gowns trend—for inspiration for looks for videos and for photo shoots. Or, as we’ve probably mentioned before, we get inspired by dialogue in movies—and I am constantly jotting down bits of phrase that I want to remember—so that when it is time to create, we have a treasure-trove of fun and waiting ideas to pull from. These become the seeds of ideas that will be revisited later.
As artists, we feel that we need to be open antennas and draw inspiration from whatever is going on around you. It helps to listen to a variety of types of music, reading many different books, watching biographies of creative individuals, and learning how to play things through YouTube could all give you some inspiration to create something new.
You have to also be open to create art that you may not think is that good. In order to get to creating your masterpieces, you have to be willing to go through the process of constantly creating. Everything you create will not be great, but you will use that not-so-good creation as the foundation for that next great idea. Also, knowing that your music—your art—will find its place in the world and find people who love what you do, will give you inspiration when you are tempted to give up.
Creating and distributing are the keys to making that happen AFTER you have channeled that inspiration.
