This episode is a part of our Blog-vember 2019 trifecta of three posts a day—a video, a podcast, and a blog post. This year the focus is tips for the D.I.Y. Rock Star. We developed these methods through our own decades worth of experiences.
Take into account these tips for discovering and listening to new music:
The BIG Take-Aways:
We try to find interesting things to watch on Netflix and on Apple TV, as well as knowing what those around us are interested in. We choose from that list often. But there are pockets of 15 to 20 minutes at a time browsing for something interesting and inspiring, so that when we have an evening available to watch, we have a short list to pull from.
In the interim, we also have the entire show of House, M.D. as a fall-back; that we can watch when we are not focused on a show in particular. If we happen to fall asleep on it, there is no harm.
Also, Bruce keeps his guitars and basses in the T.V. room, so he uses time where we are not focused on something new, he can practice his instruments or work on a song clip. He works on things like scales and techniques, where he does not need to completely put his brain into it (like sports). That way, you don’t have to choose between creative time and leisure time; they can co-exist.
