Rock Star Rewind: Hustle Hard: Why Hustle? (July 2019)
Heading into 3 years…
As we have made this journey, we have begun to crystallize our view of what we want, what we need, and what we will ask for. So, while being a starving artist sounds like the way to go, we realize that we like to take vacations and to eat at nice restaurants and to drive decent cars; all of which are not as achievable right now on music (and creativity) alone. We realize that in this season of growing and of learning that we need to hold done that 9 to 5 in order to make the lifestyle that we enjoy possible. I am FINALLY not ashamed of this fact and am simply seeking to find the best place possible to make those two benefits a reality. (—This is what Amanda Boelyn of the She Did It Her Way podcast calls a “bridge job.”) Yet it is our goal—and our plan—to be able to live this very lifestyle on our music (and related activities) alone.
Hustle to the Rescue?!
To be completely honest, I know we hustle to make up for 30 years of second-guessing, waiting for approval, feeling unqualified (and resistant to learn the things that it took) to have the kind of creative life that we wanted. So, while is NOT the way I would choose to be at ALL times, we believe this kind of hustle is necessary for this particular season in our development.
What hustle are we up to this month?!
We are happy to partner with Tapsongz, where we are featured this month. We have used this opportunity to create yet another Gab & Jam episode with the questions asked by Eric Rustad (of Tapsongz). Check it out!
Sadly, still languishing….
