D.I.Y. Rock Star Rewind: Last Gasp…. (September 2023)

Where the f*ck did the summer go?!

I PROBABLY say this EVERY year, but, seriously, where the fuck did the summer go?! I distinctly remember celebrating the more leisurely pace and the idea of getting some of those lingering projects done. And now, we’re basically 2 weeks from getting back to the grind.

Hanging on too tightly

I KNOW that I am guilty of holding on too tightly–ESPECIALLY right here at the last two weeks mark. –I obsess over EVERY extra minute and find myself falling into nap mode to try to preserve the perceived “luxury” of time. But then I get mad at myself for NOT achieving more! –Yes, I KNOW that I can’t have it BOTH ways….

GOT to get book done!

It’s just that there are projects that I had PROMISED myself that I would top off THIS summer and have YET to deliver on those! Of course, at the VERY top of the list is getting our very first book done and out into the world. –Yes, I am aware that it’s likely the “fear of failure” that’s cramping my style here, but, again, contrary to popular belief, I AM human and fall prey to all the same shit as anyone else, so I will own that. –The bottom line is that, in the next 14 days, I MUST get a “version 1.0”--as our artist mentoring training calls it– of the book out into the world! THAT’S a MUST! So, I am sliding that motherfucker up to the top of the list!

The Power of Time Limits in Creativity:

Wrapping up album promo

The one thing that is going swimmingly is promotion for our latest reggae album, “Obtanium Flow.” We’re about to do our 4th livestream to debut the video for the title track, “Lovely Mystic (Obtanium Flow).” We’ve gotten more comfortable with the process and have enjoyed having people ask thoughtful questions about the process and the inspiration for each song. And responses to the music videos has been mixed, which lets us know that folks care enough to respond honestly. Also, it’s been nice to talk to our actual fans/listeners directly. So, we’re looking forward to the next one (on August 25th at 7 pm). If you can make it, we’d love to see you there!

Premiered “It’s Gonna Be Alright” on livestream!

Last gasp of summer trip

Finally, we’re taking what we’re affectionately calling our “last gasp of summer” trip (to Denver) in 3 weeks. It is, literally, the week before school starts back and before shit gets crazy again. –We’re very likely to vlog/blog about it, so keep an eye for that, if you’re as nosey as we are.
