Voyeur: Weekly Stalkings
In order for me to learn more about blogs and blogging, I have been veraciously consuming others' blogs and noting what I like (and don't like) about each site. I've been finding my "victims" in many different dark and sordid places, but the one ray of light for collecting a few really lovely specimens is Bloglovin.'
The first one that drew me (and kept me) was a post on Design Sponge. The post is "A Reimagined Life And Home In The Bay Area" by Liberty Lausterer; photography by Esteban Cortez. Voyeur that I am—hence, this column's title—feeling as if I am looking in on someone whose life looks creative is interesting to me. Therefore, this piece caught my attention.
Liberty—great name, by the way—profiled the home of Sarah Reid (of Small Victories Design) and her husband, Matthew Latkiewicz, going into detail about some of the artifacts unearthed in this survey. First off is a shot of Sarah's home office. —You know how much I love to see folks' office spaces.... (See "Office (Space) Porn")
Then, she shows how Sarah has turned a beaded curtain into a bulletin board (below). I like to see people using items in new and different ways, so... Plus, the story about the inherited rug is heartwarming.
Finally, there is a photo of the happy couple in their created space. —I promise I am not spoiling it for you reading the actual piece. There are over a dozen other photos and exquisite descriptions.
Overall, I loved the great photography that makes these spaces look even more spectacular than they already are. The emotional and lifestyle descriptions helped me appreciate each space even more.
Great writing. Great photography. Great piece.
