This episode is a part of our Blog-vember 2019 trifecta of three posts a day—a video, a podcast, and a blog post. This year the focus is tips for the D.I.Y. Rock Star. We developed these methods through our own decades worth of experiences.

Take into account these tips for discovering and listening to new music:

The BIG Take-Aways:

“Move more. Eat less”

This is especially true if you want to lose or maintain weight. Bruce looks at it as if it is the opposite of a bank account, where you want to end the day at a deficit in terms of calories burned versus calories taken in.

Keep in mind that Bruce lost over 60 pounds—and Vox lost 54 pounds—over a decade ago, so we have put these principles into account.

Even today, Bruce runs so that he can eat more. It gets his heart rate up and he burns a lot of calories, so that he can maintain his weight.

The next advice is to have activity that is a part of your life. Walk more; sit less. We do at least 20,000 steps a day, so that we can keep ourselves accountable to moving more throughout the day. There are other tools that will help with that. This helps you keep your promise to yourself of staying healthier.

Also, ask yourself if what you are about to eat is worth the extra amount of activity that it might take to burn it off? Often, the answer is that it’s not worth it and that will give you the motivation to put it down.

Never look at the position you’re in as your lot in life. You can control making positive changes, which we guarantee will make a difference with whatever goals you have set for yourself. We use that principle for all areas of our lives.
