Birthday Bookstore Hop: Literati Bookstore (Ann Arbor, Michigan)

It put joy in my heart to know that my daughter’s desire for her 17th birthday gift was a shopping spree to her favorite bookstore (Literati Bookstore in Ann Arbor, Michigan).

This was my first time there and the minute we walked in, I knew we were in no ordinary bookstore. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Books are organized and displays are attractive and informative. There are recommendation and mini-review tabs on the shelves, written by staff, so that readers have an idea of what makes some of these books special and interesting. There is a nice mix of fun reading material (like a Stranger Things cookbook) and heavier matters (like Nietzsche and Kafka). What’s more is that there is a full-fledged coffee shop on the second floor that is conveniently located right next to the children’s reading corner.

So, yes, three levels of carefully-curated reading joy. A veritable feast for the senses—the smell of a lovely cup of coffee was always looming in the atmosphere—and the promise of taking home and taking in new ideas was the siren that pulled through to browse floor by floor.

You’ve heard the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, band photos REALLY are, since they determine if someone is going to say “Hell, yeah!” or “Hell, no!” to listening to your kick-ass music. Don’t forget to take heed to these important tips, in order to “get it right.” Check out this checklist of 15 valuable tips. http://www.bloomingprejippie.com/betterbandphotos

And though I had sworn to only buy books for Zandalee—yes, I do have a book fetish that I will have to explain some other time in some other post—I could not help but pick up a few things for myself. I can’t think of a better way to have spent an afternoon. And, of course, they have found themselves as the next addition to our coveted and coalescing collection of cool stuff, the Muse Queue.

My haul....
